Octavos

up in the mountains by Rachel Markell

lost oversized fire eating air up he
stops sleeping next to me
makes silence burn
teaches me about heat says
coal is dead here never smells smoke shows me the town of cold ghost houses
unfamiliar and wooden my clothes in the drawers I ask
how long have we been living here?
