Octavos

morning hunger by Richard C. Enos

dawn stalks the dozing darkness
talons shake the blackness awake
struggling, the prey shrivels into the brightness
a vast mouth swallows the dark
night, defenseless, dies to feed the day
but a brother will make the killer pay
